Magazine Cover – Workshop

I created Zaho de Sagazan‘s portrait for a workshop about portraits for magazine covers at La Maison des Artistes Gallery in Beirut. Having worked for years with Doesn’t Square Studio who does among other things portraits, a lot of them for magazines, I gathered insights from my experience and created a workshop to share it with people who were interested in this specific field. In a few words: capturing the personality of the subject through facial traits, position, style, and colors is key. Equally important is considering composition: where the title goes, how to frame the subject, and creating a background that complements without overpowering. Adding meaningful details is always a plus: like the bird here (in Zaho’s famous song “La symphonie des éclairs”, she says “si j’étais un oiseau, j’irais danser sous l’orage” which means “if I were a bird, I would dance in the storm”.)
