Nuage, my children’s book for ages 4 to 7 (some would say 1 to 100), follows an introverted only child learning to navigate her emotions and connect with the world. Her cloud-shaped hair reflects her feelings: when she cries, it rains, and when she’s angry, guess what happens?

My husband Elie and I launched the startup Kebbe Bleiben when we moved to Germany. Inspired by a playful mix of German and Arabic, our first designs were puns. We developed this idea to show how cool we are, countering media stereotypes, and to feel more integrated.
